“Come Together In a Song” A song of positivity for our Kruse Friends and Family
22 April 2020 Happy Earth Day Cougars!
I hope you are doing well and feeling fine! If you’re looking for some ideas of musical activities to do at home, I recently received this great resource from Alfred Music that includes several At-Home Music Activities for Elementary-, Middle-, and High-School Students. Please enjoy and let me know if there is anything I can do to support your music learning during this strange time.
Your friendly neighborhood music teacher here. I send these words to you filled with kindness, love, and positivity, with hopes that you are all faring well, feeling well, and, at the least, finding ways to enjoy this time with your family. With all the different anxieties that are circulating in the world above them, the youngest of our children can really struggle to make sense of it all. This lack of understanding can often lead to feelings of anxiety, which consequentially can have a negative influence on a child’s behavior. Anxiety is a terrible thing to feel at any time, let alone when you have almost nothing else to do but sit around and think. Sometimes a healthy distraction can do wonders. Why not add some music to ease the worries a bit? Mixing music into our daily activities can help to set our minds at ease. Whether making music, listening to music, or simply a musical backdrop to something else, it is a great distraction, and a great emotional stabilizer/harmonizer.
Since it seems that we’ll be out of school for another several weeks, I wanted to be sure to share some resources that will help keep our young musicians engaged in their music learning over the next few weeks. I’ve included a mix of different resources. I wish you all well as we navigate these unfamiliar waters. Please know that my family and I have you all in our hearts, in our thoughts, and in our prayers. We are here for you in whatever capacity you may need us to be. Please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time. You can reach me at my PSD email ([email protected]).
At Home Non-Internet Resources: The Resources below are linked to a grade-specific Google document with various non-internet ideas about how to continue music learning at home, as well as some recommended activities and music selections.

The password your child will use is also the same password that they use when logging into a school computer, such as on their school laptop or in Mr. Kings Computer Room. I do have the password for each student but cannot publish the information publicly.
